Exercise LAMITIYE-2026: The 11th edition of India-Sechelles Joint Military Exercise ‘Lamitae-2026’ is being held in Seychelles these days. This joint military exercise is running in Seychelles Defense Academy from March 10 to March 22. In this exercise, the troops of the Indian forces and the Seychelles Defense Force are participating in various military training activities. The aim of the practice is to enhance rapport between the forces of both countries, share professional experience and strengthen defence cooperation.
This time, 2026 practice is special in many ways as it is a joint practice of tri-services for the first time. It consists of Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force, who are taking training together with Seychelles Defense Force troops. This exercise is being training mainly on all-conventional operations in semi-arban areas and operations associated with UN peace missions. (Exercise LAMITIYE-2026)
Several professional discussions, lectures, demostations and practical drills are being conducted during practice. These activities are aimed at improving joint operational processes and sharing experiences between the forces of both countries. The training program discusses several topics related to Counter Terrorism Operations i.e. anti-Terrorism campaigns. It also included the case study of a large operation of the Indian Army, which explained aspects such as operational planning, intelligence based targeting and coordination between different agencies.

During the exercise, the soldiers are also being offered chordon and search operations in the Urban and Semi-Arban areas. It includes topics like terrain planning, search technology, crowd management, and rapport between different military units. The purpose of these exercises is to make the operation successful while ensuring the safety of citizens during the mission. (Exercise LAMITIYE-2026)
An important part of the Lamitiy-2026 practice is also Operational Demostation and Practical Drills. Soldiers practiced Close Quarter Battle and Room Intervention Drills. The Tactical Entry Technique in these drills, setting control over the room and practice of coordinated attack strategy. The soldiers of both countries together executed these exercises and worked as joint teams.
A special demostration was also organized during the exercise in which the strategy for rescuing the Hyjack bus appeared. In this practice, the soldiers demonstrated a fast response, coordinated action and decision-making process to deal with the mortgage situation. (Exercise LAMITIYE-2026)
Also discussed the topics associated with modern operational areas in practice. It showed ways to help disaster relief campaigns through helicopters. The role of helicopters such as casualty evacuation, relieving material, and information on aerial reconclusion. Also discussed the use of Artificial Intelligence in Disaster Management, which explained the use of data analytics and technology based logistics.
सैन्य चिकित्सा अधिकारियों ने भी अभ्यास के दौरान बैटलफील्ड मेडिकल सपोर्ट और टैक्टिकल कॉम्बैट क्रिटिकल केयर से जुड़ी चर्चाएं कीं। इसमें घायल सैनिकों को तुरंत चिकित्सा सहायता देना, सुरक्षित तरीके से निकासी करना और मेडिकल संसाधनों के समन्वय जैसे विषय शामिल रहे। (Exercise LAMITIYE-2026)

लैंड बेस्ड ट्रेनिंग के साथ-साथ इस अभ्यास में समुद्री सुरक्षा से जुड़े पहलुओं पर भी ध्यान दिया गया। सेशेल्स कोस्ट गार्ड और स्पेशल फोर्स ने विजिट, बोर्ड, सर्च एंड सीजर यानी VBSS प्रक्रिया का प्रदर्शन किया। यह प्रक्रिया संदिग्ध जहाजों को रोकने और उनकी तलाशी लेने के दौरान अपनाई जाती है। इस डेमोंस्ट्रेशन में बोर्डिंग तकनीक, संयुक्त कार्रवाई और समुद्री कानून प्रवर्तन के तरीकों को दिखाया गया।
सैन्य प्रशिक्षण के अलावा सांस्कृतिक और शारीरिक गतिविधियां भी इस अभ्यास का हिस्सा हैं। दोनों देशों के सैनिकों ने योग सत्रों और आर्मी मार्शल आर्ट्स रूटीन यानी AMAR में भाग लिया। इन गतिविधियों का उद्देश्य सैनिकों की शारीरिक फिटनेस और मानसिक मजबूती को बढ़ाना है। इसके साथ ही दोनों सेनाओं के बीच दोस्ताना माहौल बनाने के लिए एक फ्रेंडली फुटबॉल मैच भी आयोजित किया गया।
लामितिये शब्द सेशेल्स की क्रियोल भाषा का शब्द है जिसका अर्थ “फ्रेंडशिप” यानी दोस्ती होता है। यह संयुक्त सैन्य अभ्यास कई वर्षों से भारत और सेशेल्स के बीच रक्षा सहयोग का महत्वपूर्ण हिस्सा रहा है। मौजूदा अभ्यास के दौरान दोनों देशों के सैनिकों के बीच पेशेवर संवाद, संयुक्त प्रशिक्षण और अनुभव साझा करने की प्रक्रिया जारी है, जिससे दोनों सेनाओं के बीच ऑपरेशनल समझ और तालमेल को और मजबूत किया जा रहा है। (Exercise LAMITIYE-2026)
