Nyoma Airstrip in Eastern Ladakh: India is working rapidly towards delivering connectivity to all advance checkpoints of the Army to equalize China on the real control line i.e. LAC. At the same time, the strategic Airbase Neyoma (Nyoma) located in East Ladakh will be fully operational until October this year. Border Road Organization has almost completed the work of deciding this raw runway in Neoma. This runway line is only 30 kilometres from the unit control. "Our goal is to complete the creation of Neoma Airbase by October 2025," said Lieutenant General Raghu Srinivasan, Director General of Border Road Organization (BRO). ""
Nyoma Airstrip in Eastern Ladakh: Fighter Airbase in Neyoma
The Mud Airbase, located in the Neoma (Nyoma) terrain of Eastern Ladakh, will be fully prepared by October 2025. This airbase is 30 kilometres from the actual control line (LAC) and is located at a height of about 11,000 feet from the sea level. Neoma Airbase is being upgraded to the already existing "Advanced Landing Ground" (Advanced Landing Ground – ALH). The project cost is about Rs 218 crore. The fighter aircraft like Indian Air Force Mig-29 (MiG-29) and Sukhoi-30 MKI (Su-30 MKI) will be flying here after the airbase has been commissioned.
Transport aircraft will also be able to land
In addition, transport aircraft like C-130J and AN-32 will also be able to regularly carry troops and accessories from here. The idea of paving the airport in Neoma came out in 2010 when the Indian Air Force successfully landed an AN-32 transport aircraft here. But after India-China border dispute in 2020, the project began to dig faster.
Fourth Airbase in Ladakh
After the creation of the Neoma Airbase, it will be the first Air Force Adda of the Southern region located in the downhill flat planes (the bottom level area). While the height of Neoma is relatively low, it is better for fixed-wing aircraft.
Neyoma Airbase is being developed in such a way to accelerate airlifts (the movement of soldiers and equipment from the air route) and attacks in the event of war and the enemy did not have a chance to move forward. Once it is complete, it will become the fourth air force of Ladakh. Before Leh is an active airbase, while Cargill and Thousse (Thoise), which is near Sichen, are already equipped with full-fledged air straps. Also in Daulat Beg Oldy (DBO) is a soil runway used for special campaigns. However, there are two other runways in Fukche and Chushul (Chushul), which are only 2–3 kilometres from the LAC, but it is not possible to use them in situations like war.
China has advanced its airports on a 3,488 kilometre long disputed range from its side. He lengthened the runway. Given this, the Government of India has focused on upgrading all airbases and military bases located near LAC in recent years. It involves increasing the length of the runway, creating peek hangers and adding modern facilities. It aims to strengthen military preparations against China.
BRO’s goal, connectivity to every post
"There will be no part on the border of India in the next five years, where we cannot deploy the army. Our goal is to create paved roads by every advance checkpoint (Forward Post) where the walking paths could still be reached. "" He told that streets are still not in the areas with height. The North-Eastern State is building BRO major highways in Arunachal Pradesh, to connect remote valleys to each other. Now the construction of Frontier Highway (Arunachal Frontier Highway) has also been started in Arunachal Pradesh.
"We don’t want to stay behind from China," he said. If we have to equalize, continue working constantly. We were 40 kilometres behind the border and we didn’t know what China is doing. But now every year we are moving a step further. ""
Double lane roads and new highways
