India Maritime Security Vienna Congress: India has once again firmly introduced its marine security capability and leadership on the international platform. The World Border Security Congress held in Vienna, the capital of Austria took part by the delegation of the Indian Coast Guard in 2026 and placed in front of its experience and model world connected with marine security.

The conference was held in Vienna between 14th to 16th April. It included senior government officials, security experts and industry-related people from many countries in the world. The conference discussed in detail the use of Border Security, New Challenges and Techniques.

This conference is being held continuously since 2012 and today it is counted in the most important international forums associated with border security. Officers, security experts, and industry people from different countries together discuss the use of meeting limit management, new security challenges, technology and mutual cooperation. This version of 2026 included more than 450 reps close to more than 60 countries.

A delegation of three members from the side of India joined the light of DG Anand Bhakti Badola in addition to Indian Coast Guard. Anand Prakash Badola is considered to be a specialist in navigation and direction. He has taken training from Indian Naval Academy and has also studied at US Naval War College, Newport. Also, he has also achieved Masters’ degree in Chemistry.

During his career he has commanded almost every kind of ships of the Coast Guard, including Innoor Petrol Vessel, Fast Petrol Vessel, Offshore Petrol Vessel and Advance Offshore Petrol Vessel. He has also been the head of the first Policy and Plans Wing, where he played an important role in planning and capacity enhancement of the organization’s long term. Since November 2024, he is working on the post of Additional Director General.

During the conference Anand Prakash Badola spoke on the theme "Maritime Safety and Security" that India’s Coast Guard is playing an active role in maintaining security in the sea, preventing illegal activities and enhancing regional cooperation. (India Maritime Security Vienna Congress)

He also said that marine limits are different from the ground borders. The work of monitoring and security is more complicated here, as the sea is open and the activities of many countries are moving together. The risk of trafficking, illegal infiltration and other crimes in such a way.

इस सम्मेलन में भारत ने अपनी समुद्री सीमाओं की सुरक्षा के लिए अपनाए गए तरीकों और सिस्टम को भी प्रस्तुत किया। इसमें तटरक्षक बल द्वारा किए जा रहे निगरानी कार्य, बचाव अभियान और कानून लागू करने की प्रक्रियाओं के बारे में जानकारी दी गई।

बता दें कि भारतीय तटरक्षक बल देश की समुद्री सीमाओं की सुरक्षा में अहम भूमिका निभाता है। इसका काम सिर्फ निगरानी तक सीमित नहीं है, बल्कि यह समुद्र में होने वाली तस्करी, अवैध मछली पकड़ने और पर्यावरण से जुड़े मामलों पर भी नजर रखता है।

इसके अलावा समुद्र में फंसे लोगों को बचाने, आपदा के समय राहत पहुंचाने और समुद्री कानून लागू करने का काम भी इसी बल के जिम्मे होता है।

सम्मेलन में समुद्री सुरक्षा से जुड़ी कई चुनौतियों पर चर्चा हुई। इसमें तकनीक के बढ़ते इस्तेमाल, समुद्र में बढ़ती गतिविधियों और नए तरह के खतरों को लेकर विचार साझा किए गए। (India Maritime Security Vienna Congress)
