IAF Fighter Jet Shortage: Indian Air Forces struggling with the lack of fighter jets need to include new aircraft faster to maintain their battle capacity. Recently, a high level committee of the Ministry of Defence has introduced a report, with a number of recommendations to enhance the capabilities of Indian Air Force. This report came at the time when the Indian Air Force chief, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh opened up the concern that the number of fighter jets is rapidly decreasing and the need for 35-40 new fighter jets every year to complete it.
Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh recently entrusted the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh with the report of "Empowered Committee" (Empowered Committee for Capability Enhancement of IAF). The report has reviewed the needs of Indian Air Force. The report stated that if the air force is to maintain and meet the future needs, it is necessary to promote indigenous defence production. At the moment, the Air Force has only 30 squadrons, while this number should be 42. This reduction can affect the warrior capacity of Indian Air Force, especially when India is facing challenges like China and Pakistan.
IAF Fighter Jet Shortage: Many old aircraft will be retired by 2030
The great challenge of Indian Air Force is that by 2030 he has to exclude many old aircraft from service, including Mig-21, Mig-29 and Mirage-2000. These planes should have at least 40 new aircraft every year to include new aircraft, but the existing production speed is extremely low. That is why the Ministry of Air Force and Defense are now considering incorporating the private sector. Air Force sources say that companies like Tata Advanced Systems, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), and Reliance Defense can be included in this project.
IAF Fighter Jet Shortage: Indian Air Force Don’t Want Su-57E or American F-35
The report handed over to the Defence Minister has been specifically clarified that the Indian Air Force is not in favor of incorporating foreign fighter jets such as Su-57E or American F-35 of Russia, but he is focusing on the Fully Indigenous Fifter Jet Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) program. In addition, the discussion is also on the purchase of 114 fighter jets under the MRFA (Multi-Role Fighter Aircraft) program to enhance IAF’s squadron capacity. However, this program is hung from 2018 itself, and now it is going to feel the need to proceed as soon as possible.

IAF Fighter Jet Shortage: Both Jets Not In IAF Preferences
