Counter-Drone Warfare: The Combat Leadership Course at the Non-Commissioned Officers (NCO) Academy in Dhana, near Sagar in Madhya Pradesh, successfully concluded on February 7, equipping NCOs from the Indian Army with essential skills for modern warfare. The rigorous program focused on contemporary operational insights, including counter-drone tactics and combat leadership in a technology-centric battlefield environment.
During the closing ceremony, Brigadier Lalit Sharma, SC, SM, the Commandant of the NCO Academy, delivered profound insights on the “Decade of Transformation” and the impact of neighborhood unrest on India, addressing the emerging military leaders. Brigadier Sharma, a decorated officer with the Shaurya Chakra and Sena Medal, emphasized the evolving nature of warfare and the need for adaptive leadership in tech-driven conflicts.
Naik Abhishek Dev from the RAJPUT Regiment was adjudged the overall best student for his outstanding performance throughout the course. The award highlights the high standards maintained during the specialized curriculum, which prepares NCOs to lead effectively in complex operational scenarios.
The NCO Academy, Dhana, is a key training establishment under the Army Training Command (ARTRAC), dedicated to nurturing junior leaders through structured programs that incorporate modern warfare techniques and peer learning. Located at the Dhana military station, it has a history of conducting flagship courses like this one, with previous iterations in 2025 training hundreds of NCOs in similar domains. These initiatives align with the Indian Army’s focus on enhancing combat readiness amid technological advancements and regional challenges.
Participants underwent intensive training designed to foster decision-making, problem-solving, and operational adaptability. The course’s emphasis on counter-drone strategies reflects the growing importance of unmanned systems in contemporary battlespaces.
