INS Nilgiri Sydney IFR 2026: Indian Navy’s Indigenous Stealth Frigate INS Nilagiri has reached the Sydney of Australia on March 21. Its full displacement is 6,670 tons, length 149 m, width 17.8 m and drafts 5.22 m. It is equipped with Combined Diesel and Gas Propulation System, including two HAL-GE LM2500 gas turbines (each 30,200 kW) and two man diesel engines. Its maximum speed is 32 knots (59 km/hour) and can set a range of 5,500 knots on 28 knots.

The ship's stalth design is made of radar-absorbing coating and composite material, making it almost invisible from the enemy radar. The weapon system includes Brahmos Supersonic Cruise Missile (8 Launcher), Barack-8 Surface-to-Air Missile (32 Vertical Launch Sales), 127mm Main Cannon, two 30mm AK-630 Close-in Weapon System, Torpedo Tube and RBU-12000 Rocket Launcher. There is hanger and landing deck for a KA-28 or MH-60R helicopter. This multi-purpose warship with a total of 226 sailors specializes in anti-air, anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare.
