Indian Navy Project-76: The Indian Navy is working on several important plans to further strengthen its sea-related strength. One of these plans is the special project known as "Project-76". The project is an important step towards further enhancing the warship (undersea warfare capabilities) inside the Indian Navy’s sea. It is important that under this project, the Indian Navy plans to fully use indigenous technology, so that self-reliance in the security of the country has increased and promote indigenous industries in the defence sector.
Objective of Indian Navy Project-76
Project-76 of Indian Navy is a focus on building a new-class diesel-electric attack submarines. These submarines will be helpful in enhancing strategic strength in the depths of the Indian Navy. The major objective of these submarines is to combat enemy ships and submarines and strengthen the presence of Indian Navy in the sea.
Importance of Indigenous Diesel Engine
The biggest feature in this project is that indigenous diesel engines will be developed for these submarines. India has a private sector company that has already developed industrial diesel engines and is now in the process of preparing the engine required for Project-76, coupled with the Indian Navy. This engine will give strength to submarines and can be up to 1231-1300 kW. Each engine weighs about 6 tons.
Naval Day 2024: Naval Heads Bole- A new ship every month in 2025 will join the navy, the country’s first nuclear attacker submarine (SSN)
These submarines will require two engines, the main task of which is to recharge the lithium-ion battery, when the submarine is operating at the snorkel depth (snorkel). This is a very important task, as the submarines need to stay under the sea for a long time without coming to the surface.
Indian Navy is a big reason to emphasize indigenous engines – Improve the reliability of the supply chain, reduce the dependence on the import and promote the domestic industry in the defence sector. Creating indigenous engines will not only increase technical self-sufficiency, but also a new direction to the country’s defence industry. Once the technical requirements are met, the stage of engine development will begin, which will be an important milestone in the marine defence sector of India.
Preparation of Project-77
This indigenous diesel engine will not only be important for Project-76, but may have even more significant uses in its future. According to sources, these engines can also be used in Project-77, which is being developed for Nuclear Attack Submarine (SSN) of India. Even in Nuclear submarines play a key role as diesel engine backup power system. These engines provide emergency power to drive critical systems such as submersible reactor cooling. In addition, if there is any malfunction in the reactor, this engine also facilitates emergency propstion.
Autonomous Underwater Vehicles: Why are Indian Navy extremely special underwater vehicles? Unless an operator’s secret way will give the mission inside the sea.
These engines will also act as a security system for nuclei submarines, causing no crisis in the operation of the submarine. Due to this, the development of these engines is not only for Project-76, but also for future nuclear submarines.
