Indian Army Engineer Task Force First Home इलाके में ए-35 हाईवे पर 120 फीट लंबा ड्यूल कैरिजवे बेली ब्रिज बनाकर बड़ी सफलता हासिल की थी। अब इसी कड़ी में बी-492 हाईवे पर 100 फीट लंबा बेली ब्रिज तैयार किया गया है। यह सड़क कैंडी और बदुल्ला को जोड़ती है और दोनों प्रांतों के लिए बेहद अहम मानी जाती है। चक्रवात के बाद हुए भूस्खलन और पुराने पुलों के ढहने से यह रास्ता पूरी तरह बंद हो गया था, जिससे लोगों को चार घंटे तक का लंबा चक्कर लगाना पड़ रहा था। (Operation Sagar Bandhu)

4 जनवरी को भारतीय सेना के 24 बेहद अनुभवी ब्रिजिंग एक्सपर्ट्स की एक टीम ने इस पुल के निर्माण का काम शुरू किया। मौसम लगातार खराब था, बारिश और पहाड़ी इलाके की मुश्किलें सामने थीं, लेकिन इसके बावजूद भारतीय जवानों ने सिर्फ एक दिन में पूरा पुल तैयार कर दिया। पुल के चालू होते ही कैंडी से बदुल्ला का सफर चार घंटे से घटकर करीब दो घंटे का रह गया। इससे न सिर्फ आम लोगों को राहत मिली, बल्कि राहत सामग्री, मशीनरी और जरूरी सेवाओं की आवाजाही भी तेज हो गई। (Operation Sagar Bandhu)

इस पुल को बनाने से पहले दोनों किनारों को मजबूत किया गया, ताकि पुल ज्यादा भार सहन कर सके। भारतीय सेना की इंजीनियर टास्क फोर्स ने इस मिशन में आधुनिक तकनीक का भी भरपूर इस्तेमाल किया। स्वदेशी ड्रोन, लेजर रेंज फाइंडर और एडवांस्ड रिकॉनिसेंस टूल्स की मदद से साइट का सटीक आकलन किया गया और लगातार निगरानी रखी गई।

ऑपरेशन सागर बंधु के तहत भारतीय सेना का यह योगदान सिर्फ पुल बनाने तक सीमित नहीं रहा है। इससे पहले भी भारतीय इंजीनियरों ने जाफना क्षेत्र में सड़क संपर्क बहाल किया था, जो कई हफ्तों से बंद पड़ा था। 48 सदस्यीय इंजीनियर टास्क फोर्स ने टूटे हुए पुलों का दोबारा निर्माण किया। जाफना इलाके में ए-35 हाईवे पर 120 फीट लंबा बेली ब्रिज सिर्फ दो दिनों में बना दिया गया, जिससे 20 दिनों से बंद रास्ता फिर से खुल गया। इन प्रयासों की वजह से स्कूल, अस्पताल, बाजार और जरूरी सेवाएं धीरे-धीरे फिर से सामान्य हो पाई हैं। पहाड़ी इलाकों में रहने वाले लोगों के लिए यह मदद किसी जीवनरेखा से कम नहीं है। (Operation Sagar Bandhu)

Operation Sagar Bandhu: बनाया फील्ड अस्पताल

राहत कार्यों के दौरान भारतीय पैराट्रूपर्स और सिग्नल टीमों को भी तैनात किया गया। उनके काम और सहयोग के लिए श्रीलंका में उन्हें सम्मानित भी किया गया। भारत ने इलाज के लिए एक फील्ड अस्पताल भी बनाया। 60 पैराशूट फील्ड हॉस्पिटल की 85 सदस्यों वाली मेडिकल टीम को कैंडी के पास महियांगनाया इलाके में हवाई रास्ते से पहुंचाया गया। इस टीम ने 7,000 से ज्यादा लोगों का इलाज किया। इसमें गंभीर मरीजों की आपात सर्जरी के साथ-साथ महिलाओं और बच्चों की खास देखभाल भी शामिल थी। पहली बार सैटेलाइट इंटरनेट का इस्तेमाल किया गया, जिससे दूर बैठे डॉक्टरों से सलाह लेना और इलाज करना आसान हो गया। इस मेडिकल टीम ने करीब 1,250 लोगों का इलाज किया और दिसंबर के मध्य तक अपना काम पूरा कर भारत लौट आई। (Operation Sagar Bandhu)

Operation Sagar Bandhu: बेहद गंभीर थे हालात

चक्रवात के बाद श्रीलंका के कई हिस्सों में हालात बेहद गंभीर थे। सड़कें टूट चुकी थीं, पुल बह गए थे और संचार व्यवस्था ठप हो गई थी। ऐसे समय में भारत ने तेजी से मदद का हाथ बढ़ाया। राहत सामग्री, मेडिकल टीम, इंजीनियरिंग सपोर्ट और लॉजिस्टिक सहायता के जरिए भारत ने यह दिखाया कि वह क्षेत्र में मानवीय सहायता और आपदा राहत का एक मजबूत स्तंभ है।

चक्रवात आने के बाद भारतीय सेना ने जिस तेजी से कार्रवाई की, यह इस बाद का संकेत है कि भारत संकट के वक्त जमीन पर उतरकर काम करता है। ऑपरेशन सागर बंधु आज भारत की “फर्स्ट रिस्पॉन्डर” की छवि को और मजबूत करता है। श्रीलंका के लोगों और वहां की सरकार ने भी भारतीय सेना की इस तेज और प्रभावी मदद की सराहना की है। (Operation Sagar Bandhu)
