Mountain Artillery: The Indian Army Has Historical and Brave Animal Transport (Mountain Artillery) A special postal cover is issued to pay tribute to units. अब समय बदल गया है। जहां पहले खच्चरों ने रसद पहुंचाने का काम किया, वहीं अब ड्रोन, ऑल-टेरेन व्हीकल्स और रोबोटिक म्यूल्स ने उनकी जगह ले ली है। सेना आधुनिक तकनीकों को अपनाकर अपनी कार्यक्षमता को और मजबूत कर रही है। इन्हीं परिवर्तनों के चलते सेना की ‘एनिमल ट्रांसपोर्ट’ यूनिट्स को अब सक्रिय सेवा से हटाया जा रहा है। यह कदम सेना की बढ़ती आधुनिकता और भविष्य की सैन्य जरूरतों को ध्यान में रखते हुए उठाया गया है।
भारतीय सेना का आर्मी सर्विस कॉर्प्स (ASC) उन सेवाओं में से एक है, जो सेना की लॉजिस्टिक्स और आपूर्ति का आधार है। इसकी शुरुआत लगभग 250 साल पहले हुई थी और शुरू में इसका फोकस एनिमल ट्रांसपोर्ट पर था। समय के साथ, ASC ने अपने दायरे का विस्तार करते हुए आधुनिक लॉजिस्टिक्स और आपूर्ति प्रबंधन में भी महारत हासिल की।
ASC की ‘एनिमल ट्रांसपोर्ट’ यूनिट्स, जो माउंटेन आर्टिलरी का हिस्सा थीं, भारत के हर युद्ध क्षेत्र में सक्रिय रही हैं। ये यूनिट्स युद्ध के दौरान, खासकर 1962 के भारत-चीन युद्ध और 1999 के कारगिल संघर्ष के दौरान, महत्वपूर्ण साबित हुईं।
