MANPADS: In Aero India 2025 where companies in the world are offering their military products, they are also looking for new partners on the other hand. Indian Army has also sought a new partner. The UK has made a large defence deal for supplying Man Portable Air Defense Systems (MANPADS). Additionally, the UK has also launched the Defence Partnership-India (DP-I) formal to strengthen defence cooperation with India.
This year’s end will get MANPADS’s first consignment
UK Defence Minister Lord Vernon Coker announced this partnership by inaugurating the UK-India Defence Partnership Pavilion. On the occasion he pointed out that a special program office has been established in the UK Ministry of Defence, which will serve as a single window system to further strengthen defence cooperation with India.
Under this agreement between the UK and India, the Next Generation arms between Theels UK (Thales UK) and India Dynamics Limited (BDL) have been decided to increase cooperation. Under this there has been an agreement for supplying Laser Beam Riding MANPADS (LBRMs). The first consignment of High Velocity Missiles (StarStreak) and Launchers under this deal will be assigned to India by the end of this year.

There is a controversy that BDL has already been knocked down on such a contract under emergency procurement from the Indian Army. The main purpose of this deal is to change the existing old Russian Igla-S systems of the Indian Army.

नई पीढ़ी के नेवी प्लेटफॉर्म्स के लिए सहयोग
ब्रिटेन और भारत ने भारत के अगली पीढ़ी के लैंडिंग प्लेटफॉर्म डॉक (LPD) बेड़े के लिए इंटीग्रेटेड फुल इलेक्ट्रिक प्रोपल्शन (IFEP) सिस्टम के डिजाइन और डेवलपमेंट के लिए एक स्टेटमेंट ऑफ इंटेंट पर भी दस्तखत किए हैं।
इसके अगले चरण के तहत, GE वर्नोवा और BHEL भारत की पहली मैरीटाइम लैंड बेस्ड टेस्टिंग फैसिलिटी का डेवलपमेंट करेंगे। यह कदम भारतीय नौसेना के भविष्य के प्लेटफॉर्म्स के लिए गेम-चेंजर साबित हो सकता है।
क्या हैं STARStreak मिसाइल्स?
स्टारस्ट्रीक (STARStreak) हाई वेलोसिटी मिसाइल (HVM) एक लेटेस्ट एडवांस्ड एयर डिफेंस सिस्टम है, जिसे पारंपरिक हवाई खतरों जैसे फिक्स्ड-विंग फाइटर जेट्स और हेलिकॉप्टर के खिलाफ नजदीकी सुरक्षा यानी क्लोज एयर डिफेंस देने के लिए डिज़ाइन किया गया है। इस मिसाइल को थेल्स कंपनी ने बनाया है।
STARStreak मिसाइल की खूबियां
- इस मिसाइल से पारंपरिक हवाई खतरों जैसे लड़ाकू विमानों और हेलिकॉप्टरों के खिलाफ नजदीकी सुरक्षा मिलती है।
- 7 किलोमीटर से अधिक की रेंज के साथ यह छोटे और तेजी से उड़ने वाले टारगेट्स के खिलाफ भी प्रभावी है।
- यह मिसाइल कम समय में तेजी से निशाना बनाने में सक्षम है, जिससे अचानक सामने आए हवाई खतरों से निपटना आसान होता है।
- इसका लेजर बीम राइडिंग गाइडेंस सिस्टम छोटे लक्ष्यों पर भी सटीकता से निशाना साधता है, जिन्हें पारंपरिक मिसाइलों से भेदना कठिन होता है।
- फ्लाइट के दौरान मिसाइल में ऑटोमैटिक कट-ऑफ की सुविधा है, जिससे फ्रैट्रिसाइड (गलती से अपने ही सैनिकों को नुकसान) से बचा जा सकता है।
- इस मिसाइल की कोई सर्विसिंग आवश्यकता नहीं होती, जिससे मेंटेनेंस लागत में कमी आती है।
- इसका वजन केवल 14 किलोग्राम, जिससे इसे आसानी से तैनात किया जा सकता है।
- मैक 3+ की हाई स्पीड, जिससे यह तेज़ी से लक्ष्य तक पहुंचती है।
- इसकी रेंज 7000 मीटर से ज्यादा है।
कैसे काम करती है स्टारस्ट्रीक मिसाइल?
स्टारस्ट्रीक मिसाइल के अंदर तीन डार्ट्स (तीरनुमा हिटाइल्स) होते हैं जो टारगेट को तुरंत निशाना बना सकते हैं। जैसे ही कोई एरियल टारगेट रडार पर दिखाई देता है, ऑपरेटर तुरंत ट्रिगर दबाता है और मिसाइल लॉन्च हो जाती है। इसका रॉकेट मोटर मिसाइल को मैक 3 की से भी ज्यादा रफ्तार देता है।
जब मिसाइल लक्ष्य के पास पहुंचती है, तो यह तीन डार्ट्स छोड़ती है जो तेजी से टारगेट में घुसते हैं और विस्फोट करते हैं। ये डार्ट्स काइनेटिक एनर्जी और एक्सप्लोसिव एनर्जी के जरिए जबरदस्त नुकसान पहुंचाते हैं, जिससे भारी ऑर्मर्ड और लाइट एरियल टार्गेट्स भी इसके सामने ठहर नहीं पाते।
