IAF World Record: Air Force and DRDO did some of the last days that they didn’t expect. On October 15, the Indian Air Force had successfully jumped from the military parachute by a height of 32,000 feet. This unique Military Combat Parachute System DRDO has been prepared in the mandate itself. But during the jump there was no idea that it could become a world record.
This historic mission led by Indian Air Force’s Wing Commander Giant Lakhesh, VM (G). This jump was used in India using the indigenous Military Combat Parachute System (MCPS). The test jumpers of the Indian Air Force from a height of 32,000 ft had jumped freefall through this parachute. There was no idea that it is going to become a jump world record.
After the jump, the Wing Commander giant lakhesh was unhappy that yet any country has not jumped through the military parachute at a height of 30 thousand feet. Even Indian forces have no record of jumping so much.
IAF World Record: How to Make This Historical Mission
This high-ultitud jump was carried out under special conditions. From a special plane of the airstrike, the team jumped up at a height of 32,000 feet. This jump was not for a "Skydiving Record" but it was a Combat Freefall Mission designed as a test under war-like conditions. The parachute was opened at a height of 30,000 feet, which is so far the highest military parachute deployment.

This mission included three experienced test jumpers, Wing Commander Giant Lakshish, Master Warrant Officer RJ Singh and Vivek Tiwari. It was the Combat Freefall Jump, with a load of 150 kg (military+gear) with a 40 km glide range and GPS/navel navigation. The three secured landings and completed the mission with 100 per cent success.
While now the Wing Commander giant Lakhesh has requested the Ministry of Defence to start the process of entering this achievement as a world record. "India is now the world’s first country that has made live mand military parachute deployment at 30,000 feet. " DRDOs have to hand over technical data, flight logs and video proofs to Ginis World Records and World Air Sports Federation (FAI) for confirmation of this record.
What is Military Combat Parachute System
This parachute system has developed two major laboratories of DRDO, Agra’s Aerial Delivery Research and Development Establishment and Bengaluru’s Defense Bioengineering and Electromedical Laboratory.
This system is based on the RAM-Air Canopy design, which gives it the ability to set a lot of distance in the air. It can handle about 150 kg of weight including parachute young and its equipment and descends below the speed of about 4 to 6 meters per second.
It has the ability to work in temperature up to Oxygen System, GPS Navigation, and -45°C. The system is designed in such a way that it gives the soldiers the ability to glide up to 40 kilometres inside the enemy border, i.e. they can enter far away without the enemy radar.
Parachute opens at a height of 3,000 to 6,000 feet
The forces of most countries in the world use Halo (High Altitude Low Opening) and Haho (High Altitude High Opening) technology. Usually, soldiers jump from a height of 25,000 to 35,000 feet, but the parachute is opened at a height of only 3,000 to 6,000 feet to protect against the enemy radar.
But this mission of India is different, the parachute was opened at 30,000 ft., which has not been made by any country so far. The air at this height is very thin, the temperature drops to -45°C and the oxygen content is extremely low. In such a stable opening of the parachute and safely falling down was a very large technical challenge. DRDO has made advanced oxygen pre-breather system for it that gives oxygen to the jumper above 20,000 feet for 30 minutes.
Also, a special digital radio frequency memory technology has been applied in the MCPS parachute, which reduces signal interference and maintains stability in the air. While Bengaluru’s defense bioengineering has created bio-suits that protect the para jumper from problems like cold and "D-compression".
IAF World Record: These are records
The U.S. Air Force, Kettner jumped from the height of 102,800 feet in 1960, but his parachute was open at about 18,000 feet. Similarly, in 2014, the Felix Bomgartoner had also leaped from High Altitude, but his deployment was between 8,000 to 18,000 feet.
