Guided Pinaka Weapon System: The Indian Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has successfully completed the flight test of the Guided Pinaka Weapon System. This test was part of the Provisional Staff Qualitative Recruitments (PSQR) Validation Trials. These tests were conducted in different field firing ranges in three phases.
The PSQR standards of the Pinaca Weapon system during the test, such as the distance, accuracy, stability and the rate of attack simultaneously on multiple goals. Successfully tested 12 rockets in different field range, launched on two in-service Pinaca Launchers. These launchers have been upgraded by launcher production agencies.
This version of the Pinaca Multiple Launch Rocket System is based solely on indigenous technology, which has developed the Armament Research and Development Establishment together with the Research Centre Building, Defence Research and Development Laboratory, High Energy Materials Research Laboratory and Proof and Experimental Establishment. For this, the ammunition is being produced by Muniations India Limited and Economic Explosives Limited, while Tata Advanced Systems Limited and Larsen and Toubro Pinaka are building launcher and battery command post.
The Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh congratulated the DRDO and the Indian Army on the success and said that joining the Army of the Guidd Pinaka Weapon System will provide more robustness to the marching capacity of the Indian armed forces.
Dr. Samir V Kamat, Secretary of Defence Research and Development Department and Chairman of DRDO congratulated the team on the success. He said this rocket system has completed all necessary flight tests before joining the army.
This successful test has not only given a new dimension to India’s indigenous defence capabilities, but also demonstrated that the development of the defence system in the country is now moving towards self-sufficiency.
