IRSA 2.0: Defence R&D Organization (DRDO) is now preparing to launch Indian Radio Software Architecture (IRSA) 2.0 as soon as possible. The new software for Indian Air Force is also being developed by the end of 2026. To provide Secure Communication between Army, Navy and Air Force.

IRSA 2.0: IRSA- India’s first national standard

Indian Radio Software Architecture (IRSA) is India’s first national standard, which is the military Software Defined Radio Designed for. The first version of this was released in October 2025.

This is a shared digital platform that gives the ability to speak radios of different companies and different forces in the same language.

Today there are many kinds of radio systems used in Indian Army, Naval and Air Force. Many of these are made of foreign companies. The digital patterns of sending a waveform i.e. data and voice used in these radios are different. The radio of a platform is not able to directly contact the other platform for several times.

IRSA has been developed to address the same problem.

What will change from IRSA 2.0?

DRDO The Defence Electronics Appliques Laboratory (DEAL) has prepared the IRSA 2.0 in collaboration with the three forces. The new version is being made by taking into account the new needs of the armed forces. It will include new waveform, better operational features and more interoperability.

IRSA does not only decide software specification but also determines API, interface, execution environment, waveform portability and certification standards.

The aim is to ensure that radios from different manufacturers can work easily with each other.

SDR Required in War

Software Defined Radio (SDR) is an important part of the modern military communication system. Old radio hardware were based. The whole system had to change if a new technology or new waveform was needed.

But most of the work in the SDR is through the software. This means that radio can be updated as per new mission, new network or new encryption when needed.

This ability is extremely important in changing situations during the war. (IRSA 2.0)

Indian Air Force Will Get New SDR

DRDO New for Indian Air Force by the end of this year SDR And working on developing new waveform.

At present, many platforms of Indian Air Force, especially foreign SDRs have been engaged in fighter planes such as Sukhoi-30 MKI of Russian origin. While any radio is used in the future, it must be compliant with the IRSA standard.

This means that the imported radio system will also be interoperable in line with Indian standards.

Different SDRs in Three Forces

Indian Navy has already been using SDR-Tac developed by DRDO and India Electronics Limited. This system is active on multiple novice platform.

The field trials of Manpack SDR developed for Talsena have been completed. This project is now at the last stage of induction, powered by BEEL.

While Indian Air Force is still dependent on many foreign radio systems. So the new IAF SDR program holds special importance. (IRSA 2.0)

Try to reduce dependence on foreign systems

India has long been using many imported radio systems. The biggest problem with foreign systems is vendor lock-in. Control over spare parts, software updates, technical support and encryption keeps near the original manufacturer.

India is developing its own waveform, its encryption and its certification through IRSA. This will strengthen the national control over the communication system. (IRSA 2.0)

Still the rest are many challenges

However, IRSA 2.0 is an important step, but it also has several technical challenges.

BEL, alpha design, coreL and other companies in the country are developing different radio platforms. Success will be considered only when a company’s waveform works without major changes on the second company’s radio.

Also upgrade the existing radio fleet to suit new standards will also work great. This will require certification lab, waveform library and testing framework. (IRSA 2.0)

200 years of God of War: From Kargil to Operation Sindoor, how many changes the regiment of the Indian Army!

20 Years of Indian Artillery Gunners Day 2026

Indian Artillery Gunners Day 2026: India’s military strength is often referring to fighter jets, tanks and missiles. But in the battlefield there is also a strength that accurately attacks its bases without visible to the enemy. This is the strength of the Indian Army’s regiment of artillery, which is called artillery in common language. Artillery is also called God of War. On September 28, the Indian Army has been celebrating its 200th Gunners Day. It is not just a day of a military tradition, but a symbol of the legacy of two centuries that has played an important role in almost every major military campaign in India.

In recent years Cargill War And the Artillery in the operation shifter has once again shown how important the role of Artillery in the modern war. Artillery is not limited to only heavy cannons today. It has become a high-tech network connected to the drone, radar, satellite, Artificial Intelligence and Precision Guided ammunition.

Indian Artillery Gunners Day 2026: 28 September Why is Special for Artillery?

Gunners Day is celebrated every year on September 28 in the Indian Army. The same day 5 (Bombay) Mountain battery was formed in 1827. It is considered to be the beginning of the modern tradition of Indian Artillery.

At that time this unit had a 2.5 inch mountain gun. These were taken with the help of animals in the hilly areas. This unit became the basis of the historical identity of the Indian artillery. The year 2026 is also special as it is the 200th anniversary of that historical establishment.

India’s history of artillery also since 1827

Though modern Artillery The tradition of 1827 is linked, but the use of cannons in India started several centuries ago.

The Bahmani rulers of Dakan used Barud-based Cannons in the war. The Mughal Empire then made the artillery a significant part of its military strategy. The hosts of Maratha Army, Hamder Ali and Tpu Sultan and Maharaja Ranjit Singh also strengthened the artillery.

That round was heavy and their marching capacity was limited. Yet they changed the strategy of war as the first time the soldiers could attack the enemy sitting away. Indian Artillery Gunners Day 2026

The form of revenge artillery in the British period

The organization of artillery was more organized during the British rule. Different types of artillery units were created, including field artillery and mountain artillery heads.

After the rebellion of 1857 the British administration imposed several restrictions on the Artillery Units of Indian soldiers. Despite this, some artillery units were working in the hillside.

Changed circumstances in the 20th century and increased participation of Indian soldiers. The new training system evolved, modern weapons came and became an important part of the large orientation of the Artillery Army. Indian Artillery Gunners Day 2026

Regiment of Artillery in Indian Army

Like infantry, it does not have different regimental identification like Punjab Regiment, Sikh Regiment or Gorkha Regiment. The entire branch collectively Regiment of Artillery called. Its Combat Units are also called "Region", which is equal to almost a battalion in size and are usually equipped with 18 cannons or launchers.

The Indian Army currently has about 220 to 230 Artillery regiments. These include field regiment, medium regiment, self-propelled regiment, light regiment, rocket regiment, missile regiment, surveillance and target position (SATA) regiment and parachute field regiment.

Field and medium regiment are considered as the backbone of traditional artillery. These include 105mm and 155mm caliber caps. These deployed in medium regiments M777 There are also ultra light homitzers, which are specifically for mountainous areas. It can also be taken from helicopters due to its weight loss. At the same time, sarang and bow cannons are deployed in field regiments.

Bow cannon is the indigenous system based on boforce technology. Its marching capacity is higher than old cannons.

While Sarang Artillery System is the modern version of the old platform, upgraded and designed for firing up to a long distance.

While 155mm in self-propelled regiment K-9 Vajra As modern tracked gun systems are deployed. Rocket regiments have been built to deliver heavy firepowers for a long distance, while missile regiments operate supersonic missiles like Brahmaos.

Regiment of Artillery has the oldest 5 (Bombay) Mountain Battery, besides 2 (Derajat) Mountain Battery and 4 (Hozar) Mountain Battery also include the oldest Units of Indian artillery.

Modern Indian Artillery has also played a significant role in 1965, 1971. 40 Field regiment is known for the Actual North War of 1965, while 108 Field regiment contributed to the Kargil conflict.

The same regiment of artillery is an important part of Pinaca Multi barrel rocket launcher system. Pinaca has been built by DRDO and has become the dominant base of the Indian Army’s rocket artillery capacity. It is a rocket artillery system separated from traditional cannons, which is specially positioned in rocket regiments.

The main purpose of Pinaca is to deliver heavy firepowers together in the large terrain of the enemy. It is called Area Sacharan in the military language. It can target enemy bases, command posts, military deposits and logistic centers by staining a large number of rockets in a short time.

Many versions of Pinaca are in service. These include Pinaca MK-1 and Guided Pinaca head. Guided Pinaca has better navigation and target piercing capability, thereby enhancing both its accuracy and MARK distance. This system provides quick and effective fire support to the Indian Army from a long distance.

The strength of the artillery seen in the Cargill War

The basic mantra of the Indian Artillery is "Serve Izzat-O-Kikbal". This means "Everywhere respect and pride".

1999 Cargill War Indian Artillery The most of the history of the church is considered the chapter.

Pakistani intruders and soldiers captured high hills. The direct battle for the Indian Army was extremely hard. During this time, BoForce FH-77B 155mm Holitzer played a decisive role.

Indian cannons constantly target enemy checkpoints, bunkers and supply routes. This firing carried out in tough hillsides prepared the way for ground soldiers.

During the time of Artillery, it was so overwhelming that the Pakistanis shouted on the mountains – save us, saying above us has broken down. He was so scared that it was better to leave his position.

The famous Pakistani journalist and writer Nasim Jehra himself wrote in his book From Kargil to the Coupe that Indian Boforce Cannons had played a decisive role in the war. According to them, Indian artillery’s persistent ammunition made heavy pressure on Pakistani bases. The posts located at the height were constantly scared, the supply lines were affected and the morale of the soldiers was also weakened. He believed that Indian artillery made significant contributions to change the stance of war.

Study Abroad

The role of Indian Artillery in Cargill War was studied abroad. Many foreign military experts, research institutes and analysts have also considered it as an important example of the Hill Warfare. Some of the research papers associated with the U.S. Army and Defense Technical Information Centre (DTIC) have been referring to the Kargil War. These reports were concluded that field artillery is extremely important to destroy the strong bases of the enemy in elevated and difficult areas. The researchers compared the Cargill War to the Afghanistan campaign of the Soviet Union and later from the Afghanistan campaigns of the US.

India launched the Field Artillery Rationalization Plan (FARP) based on Cargill War experiences. Under this 155 mm caliber was decided to create the Standard Artillery System of the Indian Army.

The role in operation shifter has also been significant

The Artillery of the Indian Army played a role during the operation shift, which was relatively low, but his contribution to the success of the campaign remained extremely important. The Indian forces in response to the Agrahagam terror attack targeted terror collapses in Pakistan and Pakistan authorized Kashmir (POK).

A total of 9 terrorist bases were processed in this joint campaign. The headquarters of Lashkar-e-Taiba in Muridke, located two of these large and inside and Zash-e-Mohammed headquarters in Bahwalpur, Indian Air Force targeted. The rest of the seven bases were entrusted to the Indian Army’s gymnas, where Artillery took the exact Precision Strike and devastated them. These goals were mainly located 6 to 16 kilometres from the LC (LOC).

The Army’s Air Defense Units during the campaign provided the entire operation to the safety armour, while Artillery took the responsibility of the main firepower. Modern M-777 Ultra-light Howitzer Cannons were used in this mission, from M-982 XCaliber Precision-gidded shells stained. The marching capacity of these goals is about 40 kilometres and these targets can distinguish about 2 meters accurately. Also used Boforce FH-77 and Soltam Tapas.

The drone in operation was also used for monitoring, identification of the target and fire direction. This could make the Gun Position Officers get real-time information and accurate fire on the target.

The 302 medium regiment in operation shifts history. For the first time, M-777 cannons of this regiment were air-mobilized through helicopters. These cannons were rapidly transported to the operational area of the Northern Command with the help of Chinook and Mi-17 helicopters. The commanding officer Col Koshank Lanba of the regiment for this deployment and leadership was also awarded the heroic cycle.

The Indian Artillery also responded to the Golabari on behalf of Pakistan after the action. Several bunkers and firing positions located across the OLC were spherically destroyed. At that time Director General Artillery Lt. Gen. Adosh Kumar said that the indigenous and modern arms of the Indian Army effectively deactivated the imported arms of the enemy.

The operation shifter showed that Indian artillery has no longer been the only traditional "sport arm". Artillery played the role of the "Precision Strike Arm" directly due to the capabilities such as modern precision ammunition, M-777 howitzer, drone integration and sharp air mobility. Indian Artillery Gunners Day 2026

Part of Network Centric System

Once the Artillery has been heard, the picture of the large-larged artillery often comes out. But Artillery is not only the gun system in the modern war.

The calculations for firing in the old time were carried out by hand. Soldiers were positioned in high places to see the target. Modern radio or satellite facilities were not present for communication.

The situation is completely changed today. The Indian Army has a modern cannon of 155 mm range that can attack accurately for several dozen kilometres away.

Today a fire mission needs Observation Post, Surveillance System, Radar, Communication Network, Weather Data, Drone and Digital Fire Control System to succeed.

The goal of the enemy is first discovered with the help of drones or sensors. After that digital systems analyze distance, direction, wind speed and other data. Then the gun crew is sent the firing data.

Then the order of firing is issued from the command center.

Gun crew, Observer, Drone operator, Radar Expert, Communication team and logistic staff work together in modern artillery. That is, Artillery has become a network centric system, where many techniques work together. Indian Artillery Gunners Day 2026

Loiting Munition Becomes Part of Artillery

The first artillery mainly has two large weapons, canop and rocket. Now the Loting Muniition is being incorporated as a third weapon. Under this thinking, the Indian Army has created new units like Shaktiban regiment and Divyastra batteries.

Where cannons provide fire support in a large scale and relatively low cost from 40 to 50 kilometres. While multi-barrel rocket systems like Pinaca can attack far more distances. But the Battle Field has a number of targets that are constantly changing their space, such as the Air Defense System, Military Vehicle, Command Post ormission. A new option was being felt to attack immediately and accurately on such targets.

Loiting Muniitions meet the needs. This is a drone that can fly long above the target area, monitor and attack it directly after the target is confirmed. Both sensors and weapons are present in the same platform. That is why the army has put it directly into the control of the Artillery Commanders, so that they do not have to wait for the resources of the Infantry or Air Force.

Strengthening regiment is prepared for this. Strengthening means "strengthening". It is the new drone-focused unit built within the regiment of the artillery. It was done by the Army Chief General Dyendra Dwivedi on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Day in July 2025.

Shaktiban regiment is different from traditional artillery regiment. In an artillery regiment in general, cannons are the main weapons, but the main role in shaktibaan plays a drone and loiting munuition.

Each power base regiment has three batteries, two of these batteries will operate medium and long-distance loitingmunition, while the third battery will be equipped with the Swarm drone and the RPA i.e. the remotely piloted aircraft system. The counter-drone capabilities are also being included in some forefactions.

The scheme of the Army is to set up 15 to 20 Shaktiband regiments. These will be deployed exclusively with Strike Formation and Mountain Strike Core.

The main objective of the Shaktiban regiment is to accurately attack the targets with a distance between 50 km to 500 kms. This is the area where the reach of traditional cannons is limited, while the use of missiles such as Brahmos is costly. Loitingmissions in such an effective and affordable option.

At the same time, the gastrointestinal battery is different from the powering regiment. While the power base is a fully drone and lowing Muniition based new regiment, the Gastronomy battery is a special hybrid unit being built within existing artillery regiments.

It also includes drones and looting Muniitions with traditional cannons. i. The same battery can perform many functions like monitoring, target detection, fire correction and accurate attack.

At least five artillery regiments in the first phase, one-in-one divine battery is being created. The number of these can be increased in the future. The key task of these is to monitor the Battlefield, track the targets, make the movement of the artillery more accurate and assess the loss after the attack.

Actual army loiting mission is looking to be the "eye and knife" of Artillery. The drones will find the target, the Loting Munition will accurately attack and the traditional cannon will give massive fire support when needed. Indian Artillery Gunners Day 2026

New Strength Made Radar And Sensor

The modern artillery has the special significance of the Vapon Locating Radar. These radars can detect their location by observing the direction of the shells out of the cannon of the enemy.

The Indian Army can take immediate response. Also ground sensors, electronic surveillance systems and satellite data have also become part of the Artillery Network. Also, Artificial Intelligence Based Systems are helping to prepare Target Selection, Data Analysis and Firing Solutions. Indian Artillery Gunners Day 2026

Now the military bases will be from the drone attack Sef, preparing the Indian Army in the Border Area of Special Anti-Drone Security Armor

Indian Army Anti-Drone Shield: Indian Army is now going to put special security armor to protect its important military buildings from drone threats in border areas. The army has decided to further strengthen the security system of critical buildings after the operation came out a large number of drone activities on the Western border during the shift. Under which the anti-drone screen will be applied above existing buildings. Starting with Jaisalmer Military Station.

The 53 engineer regiment of the Indian Army under the Southern Command will handle this project. The terraces of the military complexes under this project of about Rs 6.34 crore will be covered with a robust security framework that can prevent any suspected drones before reaching the building.

Indian Army Anti-Drone Shield: Revenge Security Monitor After Operation Shift

India on 7th May 2025 Initiatives After the terror attack the operation was initiated. During this campaign, Indian forces targeted terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan authorized Kashmir. Then try to use drones and other airways from Pakistan side.

Several suspected drone activities were reported in border areas such as Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bikaner and Sriganganagar, Rajasthan. According to the sources of BSF Rajasthan Frontier, the total 413 drone attacks or intrusive attempts in the four districts of Rajasthan during operation shifter had failed by the Indian security forces.

These events clarified that the danger is not limited to only border checkpoints or military bases. Now the drones have the ability to access direct buildings, command centers, storage areas, and administrative complexes. Indian Army Anti-Drone Shield

Anti-drone screen of three layer?

There is no radar or electronic jammer that the security system is being built. This is a robust physical security infrastructure, which will be built above buildings.

Steel poles, beams and strong frames will be mounted in this structure. The steel mesh with three different layers will be laid above. The first layer will be interwoven steel mesh, while the second and third layer will be of corkscrew steel net.

The appropriate distance will be placed between these three layers to prevent the second and third layer if a drone attempts to hit the first lattice. In the military language it is called "Staged Interception".

It is intended to inactivate the drone before reaching the roof of the building. Indian Army Anti-Drone Shield

The design will be prepared by taking into account the desert area

Jaisalmer The ellaca is known for excessive heat, fast winds and dusty blinds. The design of the anti-drone screen will be different from the general structures due to this. The whole structure will be made to withstand high temperature, fast air and sand pressure. Special anti-corrosion coating on steel will be done so as not to rust.

Also the outer part will be given such color and finish, allowing it to easily dissolve in the surrounding desert environment. This will make the structure look far less and limit the identification of the military complexes. Indian Army Anti-Drone Shield

Why have the drones become big challenge?

Over the past few years, the wars around the world have shown that small drones can cause great damage. Low price quadcopter drones are now available with high-resolution cameras, GPS systems, and explosive carrying capacity. These are being used in surveillance, intelligence gathering, weaponry and attack.

Russia-Ukraine war, West Asia’s struggle and South Asia’s security challenges have proved that small drones have now become the most important part of the modern war.

Indian security agencies have also faced a number of cases of drones, arms trafficking and monitoring activities from across the border over the past few years. Indian Army Anti-Drone Shield

Frequent find drones on the western border

Ministry of Defence And 863 drone infiltration events were recorded on the Western border during 2025 according to the public data of security agencies. Most of these Punjab-Rajasthan were at the international border.

Of these 237 drones were recovered or deactivated. In many cases the drone was used to deliver intoxicating substances, weapons and other materials.

Several suspected drones were recovered even in the Rajasthan border area. In August 2025, the news of getting a sugar-made drone near Jaisalmer was revealed. Indian Army Anti-Drone Shield

Technical checks before construction

Not only forged under the project but also preparing complete engineering design will be the responsibility of the contractor. Soil investigation, structural design, material supply, frame construction, mesh installation and final testing work will do the same agency.

The Army has also decided that the design will be verified from reputed technical institutes such as any IIT or NIT to ensure the robustness of the structure. Indian Army Anti-Drone Shield

WWWI entered the world of medicine, I imagined that my professional life would be defined by patients, hospital wards, clinical decisions and, with time, a I never thought that a day would take me to operational areas, teach me lessons in leadership, place me alongside soldiers in difficult situations, and eventually make me responsible not merely for individual patients but also for aspects of a person. healthcare system.

I’ve never wondered if I chose this journey or whether, in some quiet way, it had begun choosing me much earlier. As a seven-year-old boy, my role model was not a film star or a fictional superhero. It was my maternal uncle, a Soldier of 5 Rajput Regiment and a I listened with his stories of military service, especially his experiences after the mandatory commando training at Belagavi. To a young boy, these were stories of courage and adventure. I’ve been able to understand what I’ve done before—A sense of purpose.

From Medical College to the Armed Forces Medical Services

The first took me towards medicine. Like thousands of young doctors, I spent years studying, working in hospitals and thinking about the traditional milestones of a I believe my future would unfold within hospital locks.

The final push towards the armed forces came from my father. I hadn’t been able to know what I had. He encouraged me to explore the Armed Forces My application for a medical application Short Service Commission

The Day The Olive-Green Uniform Changed Everything

When it came to pass, another journey began. I still remember the importance of wearing the olive-green uniform for the first time. The stethoscope was around my neck had not changed, but it had its own meaning. I was still a doctor, but medicine now has added responsibility.—To care for those who had done the responsibility of defending the nation.

I thought of myself just as a In uniform. It took the army to teach me the difference between a doctor in uniform and a doctor.

Textbooks

Medical college had taught me anatomy, physiology and finally clinical as well as surgery. Military life began teaching me things that were more difficult to find in textbooks: accountability, teamwork, adaptability, composure and leadership.

© 2008 - 2017 NordFX.

The real class, however, came during my first posting, with a Rashtriya Rifles The first few months ago Soldier was brought to our medical facility at night with a The condition required immediate assessment and intervention. My earlier exposure to surgery and orthopedics helped me stabilise him before evacuation to a More medical centers.

A few weeks later, another soldier arrived with a Healing to his thigh. Again, resources were limited and decisions had to be made quickly. When an emergency is already created in the moment of crisis. It is built quietly through long before the crisis arrives.

A Wrong Turn That Became A Lifelong Lesson

Yet one of my most valuable lessons from that term came not from something I did, but from a mistake. We once received information about two suspected poisoning cases at a time of a mistake. The company location was prepared and we moved immediately.

Somewhere along the route, uncertainty about the direction By the time we could have reached the location, the casualties had already been evacuated by helicopter.

I returned expecting criticism. My commanding officer did something far more useful. He explained that in an operational environment, knowing was not enough. I also needed to know the terrain. I was later made to familiarize with the company locations and routes.

A good leader does not merely identify a If you do not have to learn it.

Leadership Lessons From Soldiers and Commanders

The army also gave me teachers who never entered a One of them was an infantry officer and the company commander in the Rashtriya Rifles Battalion with which I serve.

He was fit, disciplined and professionally demanding, but what impressed me equally was his intellectual curiosity and composure. During a operational movement, our team had to cross a We communicated this methodically, each person supporting the one ahead.

On another occasion, I watched his calm handling of a Dangerous situation involving the evacuation of a doctor.

It’s important to make a difference between the people. It’s important to make a difference between others.

What are the advantages of Taught Me About Courage and Trust

Soldiers themselves became some of my greatest teachers. Medical textbooks teach disease. Healthvings

I saw men continue to do so difficult terrain, extreme weather, prolonged separation from their families and operational uncertainty. Their resilience was humbling.

It also made me understand that courage is not always dramatic. It is difficult to do one’s duty when the circumstances are difficult and nobody is watching.

All, soldiers taught me the meaning of trust. A soldier who approaches his medical officer when ill or injured brings more than a He brings the expectation that someone will know what to do.

From Operational Medicine to Healthcare Administration

Over the years, my postings changed. Operational medicine gave way to different times to military hospital, administrative and ultimately veteran health.

In the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health SchemeECHSI started examining only an individual patient, sometimes found in examining methods.—You may need to approach the scrutiny.

For a doctor trained in the diagnosis, the similarity was attacked. It tells us where to look more carefully.

Protecting the Integrity of Military

It raises a question.

I learnt to apply a familiar medical theory to administrate, analyse objectively and never confuse suspicion with proof.

The uniform had the first teaching me to care for individual patients. One year later, it was teaching me that professional responsibility could also mean the integrity of a healthcare system.

Serving Veterans with Dignity and Respect

A veteran may have removed his uniform years ago, but his relationship with the institution does not disappear with retirement.

Every beneficiary is a For many veterans, military health represents a continuation of the trust they once placed in the organization while serving.

That deserves to be treated with dignity.

Why is Military Medicine?

These experiences have also made me think about young doctors deciding what to do with their lives.

Military should never be romanticized. It is difficult to use postings, isolation, mobility, uncertainty and occasions when personal transport must give way to organisational requirements.

But it is not possible to use a second employment option. medical graduate.

Few medical careers allow a Doctor to move so naturally between clinical medicine, training, leadership, prevention and care of veterans.

The Journey From Doctor to Doctor

A young doctor enters the Armed Forces may believe that he will define his identity. Slowly, almost without noticing it, the uniform adds other dimensions—Resilience, accountability and a greater sense of service.

That is what happened to me.

I entered the Armed Forces as a A doctor who had to wear a uniform.

It represents more than two decades of learning.

Why I Love With My Uniform

Today, when I look at the olive-green uniform, I no longer see merely the uniform I was once excited to wear.

I see the seven-year-old boy listening to his uncle’s stories.

I see the young doctor beginning an uncertain career.

I see soldiers brought into a Medical room in the middle of the night.

I see a wrong road that eventually taught me the right lesson.

I see commanders who demonstrate that leadership is not about how loudly one gives orders, but how much confidence one’s presence creates.

I see the military family, hospitals and veterans who have been reminded of the health of the country.

And I see a profession that became something larger than the career I had originally imagined.

Medicine gave me the ability to heal. The army taught me responsibility. Soldiers taught me resilience. Leadership taught me accountability. And the uniform brought all of them together into a Sense of purpose.

That’s why it’s more than two decades, I’ll live in love with my uniform.

Not because the journey has always been easier, but because of what the journey has made me.

India’s Secret Hypersonic Railgun Project! Electromagnetic Launcher Witing Up To 200 km Far After China-US

Electromagnetic Railgun Program
Indigenous Hypersonic Weapon Program

India Electromagnetic Railgun Program: India has taken another major step on electromagnetic railgun technology considered game-changer in future Battlefield. The Armament Research and Development Assessment (ARDE) Lab has released the Expression of Interest (EOI) for design, development and manufacturing of critical parts barrel platform and drives of the electromagnetic launcher system. This technique in the defence sector is considered to be extremely important for future hypersonic weapons, long-distance accurate marching capacity and modern naval systems.

India Electromagnetic Railgun Program: What is Electromagnetic Launcher?

Barud or chacal propelent is used to advance the shells in traditional cannons. but Electromagnetic The launcher works on a completely different principle.

This technology uses highly electric current and powerful magnetic force. Millions of ampere current is flowed between two parallel rails, causing the Lorange Force. This Force pushes projectile from extremely fast speed.

This process does not require any explosive propelent. Energy comes directly from the power system, allowing the projectile to achieve a much higher speed. That’s why Railgun is viewed as a future hypersonic weapon technique.

DRDO has already achieved great success

ARDE Over the years, Electromagnetic Railgun has been working on technology. The organization has developed a 10-digit capacity railgun system.

The capacity of this system is to speed up the projectile with about one kilogram of weight more than 2000 meters per second. This speed is multiple times higher than the speed of the sound.

Now DRDO aims to develop systems with powerful 100 megajull capacity. This level system can launch the projectile of about 50 kilograms of weight by hypersonic speeds up to about 200 kilometres.

That is why the development of critical subsystems such as the barrel platform and drives is being considered as the next big phase of the program. Electromagnetic Railgun Program

Why is the barrel platform the most important part?

The barrel of the railgon does not resemble the barrel of the normal cannon. It is the most sensitive and technically complex part of the whole system.

Highly current flows between rails during every firing. It produces a lot of heat and has a heavy mechanical pressure on the metal. During frequent use, the rubbers also become a major problem.

This is why the barrel platform has to be made of design and material that can withstand the pressure of high temperature, excessive electrical current and constant firing.

Also effective thermal management is necessary to keep the system temperature controlled and not affect its functionality. Electromagnetic Railgun Program

The role of drives is extremely important

Drives that have been mentioned in EOI are important for the accuracy and stability of the launch system.

These work is to control the projectile speed, stabilise the launch process and keep the whole system driven in the set direction. The slightest mistake on hypersonic speed can also lead to a large difference on the target. So the design of the drive system must be highly accurate.

In May 2025, DRDO had established Centre for Electromagnetic Launch Technology (CEMALT) in Pune. The Centre is designed specifically for Research and Development of Railgun and other Electromagnetic Launch Systems.

Here is working in areas such as pulse power supply, armature design, barrel engineering, thermal management and advance material science. Electromagnetic Railgun Program

India working on two different technical paths

Electromagnetic Launch Technology in India is not limited only to Railgun. While the ARDE is developing Railgun, Gandhinagar-based Institute for Plasma Research (IPR) is also working in the region.

In May 2026 IPR had successfully demonstrated Linear Induction Motor Based Launcher with 8 Kgneutton capacity. This system can deliver about 170 kilograms of weight 18 to 20 meters per second speed.

This technology can be used in future naval aircraft ships and industrial systems. Electromagnetic Railgun Program

Indian Navy also has big interest

In Electromagnetic Launch Technology Indian Navy The special interest of. Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) is being used in the world’s most modern aircraft ships.

This system is already deployed on America’s Ford Class Aircraft Carrier. China has also included similar technology in its Fujian aircraft vessel.

India is working towards developing indigenous EMALS for future Indigenous Aircraft Carrier-3. Electromagnetic Railgun Program

Technical challenges not easy

Railgun technology is guinea in the world’s most complex defense technologies. The biggest challenge is the rapid disguise of rails. Also compacting the huge pulse power system, developing energy storage, cooling system and capacity of continuous firing is also difficult to work.

25 modular capacitor banks have been installed in the existing 10 MegaJul system of DRDO. The capacity of each bank is about 400 kgs. They are charged with the help of lithium battery bank and 15kw diesel generator. Electromagnetic Railgun Program

Industry being added directly

Usually DRDO transfers it to public sector companies or private industry after developing a prototype of a technique. But this bar barrel platform has been sought to partner the industry at the earliest stage for Complex Components.

Selected companies will participate in the design, prototype manufacturing, testing and final supply process. This will help in developing high-level defence manufacturing capacity in the country.

Try to join the club of select countries

America, China and some European countries in the world are working seriously on electromagnetic launch technology. The U.S. had slowed down the pace of its railgun program for some time, but reworks on its use in sectors like counter-drone systems and space launch. China is also investing extensively in this technology. Electromagnetic Railgun Program

Explained: Why IAF’s most fatal weapon after Brahmos in operation syntre, the enemy’s airbase will carry 100 km away

SAT-SAAW Glide Bomb
DrDO’s SAT-SAAW Will Give Indian Air Force Long-Range Precision Strike Capability Against Enemy Airbases. (Photo: PIB)

SAT-SAAW glide bomb: Ministry of Defence has signed a contract worth Rs 810.79 crore with India Dynamics Limited (BDL). 160 Satellite Smart Anti Airfield Weapon (SAT-SAAW) will be purchased under this agreement. This indigenous Precision Guided Glide Bomb made of DRDO is able to target the enemy’s airbase, runway, bunker and military structure safely. The agreement in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh in New Delhi is being considered an important step towards enhancing the strike capacity of Indian Air Force and strengthening self-reliance in the defence sector.

The deal is under the "Bay Indian – Indigensally Designed, Developed and Manufactured" category, which means the design, development and construction of the weapon will be in India.

What is SAT-SAAW glide bomb?

SAT-SAAW i.e. Satellite Smart Anti Airfield Weapon A Precision Guided Glide Bomb is. This is a weapon killing the ground from the air, which it moves towards the target with the help of its wings without having to leave the fighter plane.

Its main purpose is to destroy enemy airbase, runway, taxi track, aircraft shelter, command center, bunker and other important military structures. This weapon can be left from a long distance, which does not require the attacking plane to go to the enemy’s air defense range.

That’s why it’s Stand-off Weapon is placed in the category of. Stand-off wastages are weapons that are targeted to targets by staining securely. (SAT-SAAW glide bomb)

How does it work smart arms?

(SAT-SAAW glide bomb)

(SAT-SAAW glide bomb)

(SAT-SAAW glide bomb)

(SAT-SAAW glide bomb)

(SAT-SAAW glide bomb)

(SAT-SAAW glide bomb)

Just a post for women in Territorial Army recruitment? Delhi High Court responds to the Central Government

Territorial Army Women Recruitment
Delhi High Court Seeks Centre’s Answer Over Single Vacancy for Women in Territorial Army Recruitment

Territorial Army Women Recruitment: Delhi High Court has sought response from the Central Government in case of separate and unequal vacancies for male and female candidates during recruitment at Territorial Army. A publicized petition filed in the court is alleged that in the recruitment process there are far more posts for male candidates, while only one post is prescribed for women. The petition has been described against the provisions of the Constitution’s equality.

The delegation of Chief Justice D.K. Upadhyay and Justice Tejas Kariya has sought the reply while the Central Government is issued notice while hearing this matter.

Territorial Army Women Recruitment: Kush Kalra filed a publicized petition

Petitioner Kush Kalra said in his petition Territorial Army Determining a very short post for women in officer recruitment is a violation of Article 14, 15, 16 and 19(1)(g) of the Constitution. The petitioner says that women in 2018 are not being equal in the recruitment process despite being allowed to join the Territorial Army.

2018’s decision cited

The historic decision of 5th January 2018 of Delhi High Court in the petition is mentioned. In that case the court had made an unconstitutional agreement to lay out women from Territorial Army.

The court said that the term "Annie Person" used in section 6 of the Territorial Army Act, 1948 applies to both men and women. Then the doors of the Territorial Army were opened for women. (Territorial Army Women Recruitment)

Discrimination showing in recruitment ads

The petition has claimed that even after the court’s 2018 decision, the recruitment process has made a big difference.
The recruitment notification of the year 2022 as per the record was placed for the male candidates for 12 posts and only 1 post for women. For men in the year 2023 and 1 post for women was determined.

According to the petition, the same was in 2025. 18 Posts for male candidates that year and only 1 post for female candidates were decided. Also, individual merit list of male and female candidates was prepared.

The recruitment notification of the year 2026 has also set 11 posts for men and only 1 post for women. There are also different merit orders placed here. (Territorial Army Women Recruitment)

Demand for giving equal opportunity

The petitioner says that limiting women to only one post is the only symbolic representation instead of giving real opportunity. In the petition it is described as "Tokenism".

According to the petition, such a system continues to discrimination, which Delhi High Court Already declared unconstitutional. The arrangement of individual and highly unequal vacancies affects the right of equal opportunity for women. (Territorial Army Women Recruitment)

The Supreme Court also cited the decision

of Supreme Court in Petition Arshanur Kaur The case is also mentioned. According to the petition the Supreme Court had repeated the principle of gender equality in military recruitment in his decision.

The petition stated that the Supreme Court had clarified that when the women were allowed to enter a branch of the armed forces, the number-based restrictions may not be imposed for them by citing only policy or organizational reasons.

(Territorial Army Women Recruitment)

(Territorial Army Women Recruitment)

Less Than Major General Pension Brigadier? More than 200 Retired Officers in Preparation of Court Going

Major General Pension Dispute
Why Retired Major Generals Are Challenging India’s Military Pension Anomaly in Court

Major General Pension Dispute: Several Retired Major General of the Indian Army and the Lieutenant General are preparing to knock the court’s door with a pension dispute that has stirred in the Defence Corridor. The case is not of any promotion, posting or service records, but the case is connected to the pension, in which the pension of a Major General and Salary Junior is equal to or less of the Brigadier.

This dispute is due to the Salary Structure and Military Service Pay i.e. MSP made after the Seventh Pay Commission. The officials associated with the matter say that the government has taken away this discrepancy for certain authorities, but the rest of the officers with similar conditions were not benefited.

Major General Pension Dispute: What is Complete Dispute?

The case is linked to the senior officers of the Indian Army, Naval and Air Force who reached the rank of Major General, Rear Admiral, Air Vice Marshal and above.

In the Army Brigadier Up to the rank the officers get the Military Service pay in addition to Basic Pay. MSP was implemented taking into account the special conditions of military service, difficult deployment and service restrictions.

But as soon as an officer becomes Major General, he stops getting MSP. The problem begins.

The total salary of a Brigadier under the Seventh Pay Commission reaches about Rs 2,33,100 after adding MSP. On the other hand, the maximum salary prescribed for Major General was Rs 2,18,200, which did not include MSP separately. In many cases, the officer who has promoted access to lower salary and lower pension status from his junior brigadier.

Questions of Economic Loss after Promotion

Retired authorities say that promotion in any government or military system means greater responsibility and better economic benefits. But in this case the situation has appeared reversed.

A Major General has to handle critical appointments at Chief of Staff and Army Headquarters at Division Command, Core Headquarters. Despite this, his pension may be equal to or less of the Brigadier who has been junior.

Retired Major General Ranjan Chand said that the Ministry of Defence gave relief while accepting discrepancy, but only those officers who had petitioned in court.

"The decision to overcome discrepancy by the Ministry of Defence was limited only to the authorities who fought the lawsuit. The rest of the officers with similar conditions were not benefited. General Pension Dispute

AFT had ruled out

Armed Forces Tribunal on 14 March 2023 i.e. AFT The principal bench of the Major General and the equivalent rank had decided on the petitions of the officers.

The Tribunal directed the Central Government to increase the salary and pension of petitioners to the level of their immediate junior brigadier. As well as other financial benefits.

The decision was also applicable to the officers of the Navy and Air Force in addition to the Army.

This order officially assumed that a discrepancy exists in the salary and pension structure for the first time. General Pension Dispute

Delhi High Court Cases

The Government challenged the Order of AFT in Delhi High Court in a matter of Air Vice Marshal Lakshmi Narayan Sharma.

However, Hikert accepted the petition, but did not stop the order of AFT.

After this, the Tribunal allowed to apply the order with the terms. The final decision of the court in the future is to return the additional amount if the petitioner is in favor of the government.

In spite of this long order did not apply. About 82 officials who were offended by this filed the Awamanna petitions. General Pension Dispute

August 2026 found 82 officers benefit

The Ministry of Defence issued the order in August 2026 after the dismissal notice is issued. Salary of 82 officers under this order and Pension Increased clearance. The excess amount was considered to be a personal pay, but also accepted part of the salary and pension.

The procedure for these officers to be given career and other financial benefits also began. In some similar cases of Naval and Air Force, the information of such order is issued. General Pension Dispute

Now more than 200 Officers are ready to visit the Court

But the dispute did not end. The Retired Colonel Indrasen Singh, fighting the legal battle on behalf of several authorities says that more than 200 Major General and Lieutenant General are now preparing to file new petitions. He says that when the government accepted discrepancy and gave benefit to certain authorities, the same benefit should be met automatically to all officers with similar conditions.

"It is not advisable to force every person to go to separate court if the data of all officers is available to the government. General Pension Dispute

Controversy also in New Review of ORP

Meanwhile, the New Review of One Rank One Pension i.e. ORP was implemented from Brigadier to Vice Chief of Army Staff.

Relieved based on the same principle in the order of August 2026. But many officials say that only equal is not quite. He argues that the officer who has promoted at higher ranks cannot be financially equal to his junior.

Retired Brigadier Anil Srivastava said, "Only 7 to 10 per cent of the 100 Brigadier are only accessible to the General Rank. In this way, giving them equal to only the Brigadier eliminates the real financial identity of the promotion. General Pension Dispute

What was the status before the Seventh Pay Commission?

A type of notational MSP existed for General Rank Officers up to sixth Pay Commission as per former military officers. This made the difference of salary and pension between Brigadier and Major General.

But in the seventh Salary Commission, this arrangement was terminated. After this, the financial gap began to be eliminated and the inverse bearing appeared in many cases.

This is why Senior Officers are not only the case of pension but the problem of the entire salary structure. General Pension Dispute

Angry in the former Army officials

Retired Air Vice Marshal Manmohan Bahadur responded to the issue that the authorities who spend the whole life in service of the country should not be dizzy of courts after retirement.

He said, "The hundreds of senior officers are now planning to go to the court to get the same benefits that have already met the authorities with similar conditions. ""

Retired Brigadier S.K. Chatterjee also said that there is no logic to benefit only 82 officers and leave the rest to file different sue. General Pension Dispute
