INS Androth in Indian Navy

INS Androth in Indian Navy

INS Androth commissioning marks a significant milestone in India’s naval modernisation and self-reliance drive. Commissioned on 6 October 2025 at Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam, INS Androth is the second Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC) built by GRSE, Kolkata with over 80% indigenous content. Designed for coastal and shallow water operations, it features advanced sonar, weapons, and waterjet propulsion systems for high manoeuvrability. The vessel enhances India’s anti-submarine warfare capabilities, maritime surveillance, and coastal defence, showcasing the Indian Navy’s focus on Aatmanirbharta and indigenous innovation. This induction strengthens India’s maritime security architecture significantly.
