Indian Navy Tests Air-Drop Container, MiG-29 Gets Supersonic Rampage Missiles

Indian Navy: Successful Test of Air Dropable Containers

On January 24, the air dropable container (ADC-150) was successfully tested on the coast of Goa. With the help of this technique, warships can be made available logistics, tools and medicines necessary without returning to the coastal areas. This container was dropped on the seafront through the P8I torhi plane of the Indian Navy.

This container can lift up to 150 kg and can be used both in war and peace time. Three Laboratories of DRDO—Naval Science and Technology Laboratory of Visakhapatnam, Agra’s Aerial Delivery Research and Development Assessment and Bengaluru’s Aeronautical Development Assessment—developed it.

DRDO shared this achievement on its official social media account. DRDO pointed out that this ‘Air Dropable Container’ is capable of delivering logistics and essential equipment to navy ships deployed under both peace and wartime conditions in the sea. During this test the container was dropped to the sea-set location.

This container developed by DRDO is completely indigenous. The main objective is to help Indian Navy stay deployed in the sea for a long time without having to return to the coastal areas. This capacity will further strengthen India’s defence preparations.

Maritime operations will benefit

Regional operation of Indian Navy extends to the Gulf of Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea and Bengal. Immediate logistics to ships deployed at a distance of 2000 km or more from such a coast is a challenged task. Developing air dropable containers will allow warships to be deployed in the sea for a long time and increase their self-sufficiency.

Mig-29 Rampage Missile for Combat Aircraft

While the Indian Navy has included the Supersonic Rampage Missile in the MiG-29 fighter planes to further strengthen its air capabilities. This missile can accurately target the enemy radar, airstrip, and other strategic bases.

The rampage missile has been developed by Israel. This missile can kill more than 2000 spas used in the Balakot airstrike of 2019. It was recently used during trial even on INS Vikrant.

Naval increasing strength

The Indian Navy is constantly upgrading its capabilities, among the increasing threats on the maritime boundaries of India and border disputes with China. Incorporating P8I aircraft and new technologies for long distance monitoring has made great changes in naval preparations.

The use of techniques such as rampage missiles and air dropable containers proves that India is moving towards self-reliance in the defence sector. It not only strengthens the security of the country but also promotes partnership and cooperation with friends countries.
