DSC A20 Diving Support Craft: Indian Navy is going to formally commission its first indigenous diving support craft DSC A20 in Kochi on December 16. The program will be in the presence of the South Naval Command, where the Flag Officer commanding-in-Chief Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena will formally assign the Navy. Having commissioned DSC A20 will strengthen the naval underwater support and diving capacity.

DSC A20 is the first ship of the series of five diving support crafts, which has been built by Kolkata-based Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd. This platform is part of the fully indigenous design and Made in India initiative, aimed at conducting diving missions and underwater operations in coastal waters. This ship has set up state-of-the-art diving systems as per the International Safety Standards.
The most important thing in this ship is the catamaran solution design, making it more stability and better CKPING. This makes the ship stable even in fast air or high waves. The ship weighs about 390 tonnes and is made according to the Naval Rules of Indian Register of Shipping. The hydrodynamic testing and model analysis of this vest was carried out in the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory, located in Visakhapatnam, so that its performance was completely reliable during operation.

It is specially designed for diving operations in Craft Coastal Water. The ship has state-of-the-art diving system, featuring Hyperbaric Chamber, Surface Supply Diving System and Advance Sensor. According to Nosena, this craft aims to secure and accelerate the work such as underwater Inspection, Salvage Assistance and Underwater Repair of Ships.
This craft has the full potential to support Naval Command Clearance Diving Teams. This will play an important role in missions such as checking the pipelines and underwater platform, especially under ports, ships. It will remain in Kochi and will operation under Saudrn Naval Command.
