India has achieved another great achievement in its defence sector. Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) conducted three successful trials of the Veri Short-Range Air Defense System (VSHORADS) from the Silverpur coast of Odisha on Saturday. This state-of-the-art missile system has been specifically designed to destroy fast flying targets at low altitudes. The main objective of VSHORADS is to neutralize high-speed targets flying at low altitudes, especially to the drones and enemy aircraft.
In this test, the missile was stained at fast-blowing goals in various heights and circumstances, and every time it was successful in completely demolishing its target. This is an important achievement in India’s air defence sector and will help strengthen Indian Army, Navy and Air Force.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO and Indian armed forces for this significant achievement. "VSHORADS missile system will further strengthen India’s defence capabilities and help us become self-sufficient. "Here, Dr. Samir V. Kamat, chairman of Defence Research Secretary and DRDO congratulated DRDO scientists, military officers and industry partners on the success.

The strength of the missile proved in three flight tests
This missile system developed by DRDO was tested on the drones flying at a lower altitude than the faster speed. The DRDO authorities pointed out that the missile completely destroyed its target in three flight-tests with 100% accuracy. The missile is designed to effectively neutralize the drones and other air hazards flying at low altitudes.
"The missile destroyed high-speed targets flying at low altitudes during these tests, according to a defence officer whose thermal signatures were quite low. "This capacity makes it extremely efficient in neutralizing drones and other aerial thates.
During this trial, two field operators operating the missile system, which he executed the process of identifying, tracking and launching the target.
Features of VSHORADS system:
- This is the man-portable air defense system (MANPADS), which the soldiers can easily carry with them.
- It operates from dual-stage solid fuel engine (Dual-Thrust Solid Motor), allowing it to differentiate targets for a maximum of 6 kilometres.
- It is designed specifically for Indian Army, Navy and Air Force to destroy air hazards flying at low altitude.
- It is perfectly suitable for deployment in Himalayan terrains such as East Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh, where it is necessary to combat China’s growing air hazards.
- This system is equipped with advanced electro-optical tracking system, radar and telemetry equipment, allowing it to destroy it by accurately chasing small targets flying in the air.
Indian Army Gets Big Advantage

अब VSHORADS के सफल परीक्षण के बाद भारतीय सेना को एक मजबूत स्वदेशी विकल्प मिल गया है, जो न केवल तकनीकी रूप से एडवांस है, बल्कि रणनीतिक रूप से भी बेहद महत्वपूर्ण है। खास तौर पर लद्दाख और अरुणाचल प्रदेश जैसे पर्वतीय इलाकों में, जहां चीन की ओर से ड्रोन और फाइटर जेट्स का खतरा लगातार बना रहता है, वहां इस मिसाइल की तैनाती से भारतीय सेना की ताकत कई गुना बढ़ जाएगी।
पहले भी हो चुके हैं सफल परीक्षण
यह पहली बार नहीं है जब VSHORADS मिसाइल को सफलतापूर्वक टेस्ट किया गया हो। इससे पहले अक्टूबर 2024 में राजस्थान के पोखरण फील्ड फायरिंग रेंज में भी इसके तीन सफल परीक्षण किए गए थे। इसके बाद DRDO ने इस मिसाइल का डेवलपमेंट वर्क पूरा कर लिया। इस नई मिसाइल प्रणाली का उत्पादन भारत में ही किया जाएगा। DRDO ने इसके लिए Development cum Production Partner (DcPP) मॉडल के तहत दो प्रमुख भारतीय कंपनियों को प्रोडक्शन के लिए चुना है।

भारत ने पिछले कुछ सालों में अपने एयर डिफेंस सिस्टम को लगातार मजबूत किया है। हाल ही में भारतीय वायु सेना और नौसेना को मीडियम रेंज सरफेस-टू-एयर मिसाइल (MRSAM) सिस्टम भी मिला था, जिसे इजरायली तकनीक के साथ मिलकर विकसित किया गया था। अब, VSHORADS मिसाइल प्रणाली के जुड़ने से भारत की छोटी दूरी की वायु रक्षा प्रणाली और अधिक मजबूत हो जाएगी।
