Akash Air Defence Missile: India’s first ‘Akash’ air defense missile system battery sent to Armenia, supply of 15 systems was compromised

Akash Air Defence Missile- India Ships First 'Akash' Missile System Battery to Armenia as Part of 15-System Supply Deal

Akash Air Defence Missile- India Ships First 'Akash' Missile System Battery to Armenia as Part of 15-System Supply Deal

Akash Air Defence Missile- India Ships First 'Akash' Missile System Battery to Armenia as Part of 15-System Supply Deal

S-400 Air Defence System: India has to wait long for the rest of the two air defense systems that meet Russia, these options are being considered

Australia S-400 Deals

S-400 air defence system: India may have to wait for the last two units of the state-of-the-art S-400 air defense system from Russia. The delivery of this review system was expected to be up to 2025, but it is now likely that these units will meet at the beginning of 2026.

S-400 Air Defence System: India Faces Long Wait for Remaining Two Russian Units, Exploring Alternative

The five S-400 units were dealt with costing $ 5.43 billion in 2018 between India and Russia. This air defense system is one of the world’s most advanced air defense system, capable of tracking and destroying many air hazards up to a distance of up to 400 kilometres.

S-400 system deployment and challenges

The first S-400 unit in India was reached in December 2021, which was immediately deployed in the Western sector. Next, the second and third units were also deployed in the next two years, thereby strengthening the defence system on the western and eastern border of India. Following the deployment of these units, India’s defence system has been strengthened against air hazards from Pakistan and China.

However, many challenges also faced in the way of complete deployment. The supply chain hampered due to the COVID-19 pandemic, delayed early delivery. In addition, the Ukraine crisis also influenced Russia’s defense industry, affecting the ability to meet the defense contracts.

Indian Air Force in Delay Stress!

The delay of these last two S-400 units has extended concerns in the Indian Air Force (IAF). The IAF and the Ministry of Defence has started looking for alternative solutions taking into account this delay, with additional air defense systems being considered. This will enable high preparations to be maintained at the borders, especially when tension is made since 2020 in relations with China.

The three units of the S-400 system currently deployed have already strengthened India’s air security capabilities. The ability to monitor and withstand threats in high-risk areas has increased. However, the deployment of the whole system is strategically extremely important, especially considering the change in regional security and the military progress of China.

India Needs Complete Set of S-400

The ongoing tension on the real control line (LAC) between India-China has made it more important to maintain a strong air defense network. S-400’s delay is a challenge for India to strengthen its resistance potential.

S-400 system must be set up for India between China’s advanced missile system and investment in fifth generation fighter jets to maintain a significant edge in India’s defence.

The procurement of the S-400 system was part of the effort of modernizing India’s defence forces in 2018 and reducing their weaknesses. But the potential expansion in the delivery of this system by 2026 has brought India’s defence strategy to a delicate turn.

Project features and strategic benefits

The ether project presents a fully automatic and integrated air defense system. Let's know about some of the main features of this project:

  1. Whole Sensor Fusion: Akashtier has integrated the "up to the bottom" of all air defense sensors, including the ground-based sensors of the thal army and air force. It not only provides a well-organized air picture, but also provides accurate positioning information to the Army’s air defense units.
  2. Fast response from automatic operation: Every moment in air defense is important. The automation system of the ether eliminates the need for manual data entry, making quick and efficient response possible. For example, a supersonic plane can fly for 18 kilometres in a minute—The Akashtier ensures that the entire readiness of the defence remained during this time.
  3. Right to Decision Making: The AIR has decentralized the right to attack the warplane, allowing units to make quick decisions deployed on the advance line. This feature is particularly important for units deployed in North and Eastern commands, where the ether is already deployed.
  4. Air illustration in real-timeAIR collects data from various sources such as 3D Tactical Radar, Low-Level Lightweight Radar, and Sky Weapon System. It provides a holistic air illustration, which is helpful in strategic plans and quick responses.
  5. Strong communication and scalabilityThis system is designed to maintain communication even under extreme conditions. Also, it also has the ability to upgrade software and hardware, making it ready for future technical changes.
  6. Flexible deployment: The ether is specially designed by taking into account the requirements of various military structures. This system strengthens the security on many borders of the country.

Deployment of system and future preparations

The deployment of the ether is being phased out. 107 of the total 455 systems has been distributed, and 105 systems will be provided by March 2025. Distribution of remaining systems will be completed by March 2027.

LCA Tejas MK1: The Tejas fighter jet will run the HAL as a delay in engine supply. Worked with ‘jugad’, made these special plans.

HAL Tejas Mk1A Engine Delivery: HAL receives fourth GE-F404-IN20 engine, moves closer to IAF handover
File Photo

LCA Tejas MK1: India’s Indigenous Lightfighter AirCraft LCA Tejas has decided a big decision by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, a company making it on behalf of the US company GE. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has created a special emergency plan in view of further delay in supplying GE F-404 engine in the production of its Tejas Mk1A fighter aircraft. The first delivery of this engine was starting from April 2024, but now HAL has to apply an emergency plan due to further delay in its supply, under which the Category B F-404 engine will be used for the initial production model of Tejas Mk1A.

LCA Tejas Mk1A Project- HAL Adoption Plan Amid Engine Delays to Make Timely Production
File Photo

Tejas Mk1A is extremely important for the Indian Air Force (IAF), including advanced avionics and radar systems, which further enhance its float potential. However, the delay in the supply of these engines has increased concern about its operational radiance within IAF.

However, HAL has selected the Category B engine to maintain production, which are considerable for pre-delivery flight test and quality check. It will keep the aircraft flying qualified during engine tests, unless the GE F-404 engine is found.

"There is no shortage in our objective production or redness," said HAL’s officer on the condition of noticing the name. Using the Category B engine allows us to test the required flight and we can meet our production goals. As GE Engines will be available, we will fully engage them in aircraft. ""

Delay of engine supply is being combined with hitches happening in the supply chain. However, this strategic decision of HAL is to maintain its production schedule and ensure that Tejas can be assigned to Mk1A IAF on time.

Once the GE F-404 engine is available, HAL will do 2-3 pre-discovery light test coupled with IAF, to ensure that the aircraft meets all performance standards.

This step of the HAL is being seen as a practical solution for solving the current obstacles occurring in the rollout of Tejas Mk1A, so that this aircraft can be timely delivery. The project is an important part of India’s air force efforts to modernize with indigenous defence technologies.

Indian Army: Indian Army challenge in the tough winter of Ladakh; fully prepared to deal with every situation on LAC

Indian Army: Facing Tough Winter in Ladakh, Fully Prepared to Tackle Challenges Along LAC

Indian Army: Located at the height of Ladakh, one of the world’s toughest military deployment areas, Indian Army is getting ready to face another challenging winter. This area is located at the height of 17,800 feet from the seafront, and the situation remains stressful despite the patrol agreement with China.

Indian Army: Facing Tough Winter in Ladakh, Fully Prepared to Tackle Challenges Along LAC

Recently, in a video shared by the Fourteenth Core, Leh of the Indian Army, the soldiers were seen taking an advanced air defense cannon to the high peak weighing 1,200 kg. This video shows the Indian Army preparations, which is fully equipped to withstand any accidental situation.

This is the fifth winter deployment of the Indian Army, which further strengthens its strategic focus in protecting LAC.

This area is filled with difficult and dangerous geographical conditions, and the winter here can drop to -40°C. In such a soldiers face difficulties not only physically but also mentally.

The Indian Army has given its troops special equipment for extreme altitude wars, including insulated jackets, shoes and sleeping bags. In addition, the army has also deployed snow-powered vehicles such as snowmobiles, snow tractors and mobile shelters so that the soldiers are safe under these harsh conditions.

In addition to these equipment, the soldiers are given special training of war at altitude. It includes advanced combat, quick movement in hilly areas and live training in temperatures like -40°C.

Modern weapons and techniques are also an important part of the Indian Army’s defence strategy. Soldiers in recent footage have been shown with anti-aircraft guns, reflecting the readiness against Indian Army’s air strikes, especially drone attacks.

Additionally, Army uses monitoring tools like drones, thermal imaging systems, and satellite imagery to gain intelligence in real-time on LAC.
