Defence Minister Russia Visit: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Russia from 8 to 10 December, where he will take several necessary steps to further strengthen India-Russia defence partnership. During this visit, the Indian Navy will also include the state-of-the-art Stealth Frigate INS Tushil. INS Tushil will prove to be a new milestone in the efforts of navy mordenization between India and Russia. HAL Chiefs were also on the visit of Moscow before. The visit to Rajnath Singh includes Moscow and Kaliningrad, a strategically significant area of Russia, which is located on the banks of the Baltic Sea between Poland and Lithuania. Kaliningrad has significant military establishments of Russia, including the headquarters of the Baltic Fleet, which plays an important role in the defense strategy of Russia.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh INS Tushil’s Flag in Kaliningrad will perform the Aarohan ceremony. This Ship Project is the first of the four frigates formed under 11356. The project is an important part of defence cooperation between India and Russia, which was started under an intergovernmental agreement in October 2016. Under this agreement two frigates are being built in the Russian parallel shipyard, including INS Tushil, while the rest are being constructed under the Technical Transfer Agreement in the two Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL).
INS Tushil is a state-of-the-art stalth frigate, which will strengthen the strategic capabilities of the Indian Navy. This ship is ready for protection from air, submersible war and surface war, making it play a versatile role in the operation of the Navy. This ship will enable the Indian Navy to protect their maritime limits, protect maritime routes and deal with new threats.
The sources pointed out that INS has faced several problems in making the Tushil. The global supply chain in its construction is also delayed. Including COVID-19 pandemics and Russia-Ukraine conflicts. However, now this frigate is ready to become part of the Indian Navy fleet and will contribute significantly to the Indian Navy’s strategic approach.
The importance and growth of defence relations between India and Russia, especially since India has stepped towards diversifying their defence shopping. Despite this, Russia has still become the leading defence supplier of India. While Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, in Moscow, will meet the Defence Minister Andrei Bellosov, Russia where they will discuss the production, technology transfer and maritime security of joint military equipment. INS Tushil has great significance to join the Indian Navy fleet at this time, as India is working towards further strengthening its marine security scenario.
