BrahMos Missile Deal: Between India and Vietnam $The interaction on the Brahmaos Supersonic cruise missile deal of 700 million is at its final stage. Under this deal India will supply the Brahmaos missile to the Army and Navy of Vietnam. The agreement is expected to be signed in the next few months. After this deal, defence cooperation between India and Vietnam will get new heights. If this is a deal, Vietnam will become the second country to buy a Brahmaos missile from India. Earlier the Philippines had bought this missile from India.
The deal between the two countries has been discussed for several months. This agreement is now in its last stage and can be knocked on it in a few months to come.
BrahMos Missile Deal: Technical Partnership of India and Russia
The Brahmaos missile is developed by Brahmaos Aerospace, a joint venture of India’s Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and the NPO Machinostroyenia of Russia. The range of Brahmos missiles is more than 290 kilometers and it can distinguish its target at a speed of 2.8 Mac. It can be launched through water, thin and air – three mediums, making it a versatile missile system. The Brahmaos missile can prove to be a game-changer for them, considering the geographical location and security challenges of Vietnam.

If this deal is complete, Vietnam will be the second country to buy the Brahmaos missile after the Philippines. Vietnam has also already purchased the Bastian-P (K-300P) coastal defence missile system from Russia.
BrahMos Missile Deal: Deal Process and Conditions
Vietnam has long waited for this deal. This deal is being made based on drafts, final deals, delivery schedules and payment terms proposed from Brahmaos Aerospace. Technical and Commercials details have been shared with the Defence Ministry of Vietnam recently.
However, the deal has delayed due to some changes in the leadership of the Brahmaos aerospace. New CEO and MD Dr. Jayatith Raghavendra Joshi’s appointment is on legal dispute. The case is under consideration in Central Administration Tribunal, Hyderabad.
New height in defence cooperation
Defence cooperation between India and Vietnam is constantly increasing. India showcased its defence equipment in Vietnam International Defense Exhibition (VIDE24) recently held in Hanoi. The exhibition was inaugurated by Vietnam’s Public Security Minister General Luong Tam Quang, Indian Defence Production Secretary Sanjeev Kumar, and Vietnam Ambassador of India Sandeep Arya. Also both countries have participated in joint military practice, such as VINBAX-2023 and MILAN-2024.
Brahmaos Aerospace, DRDO, HAL and Majgaon Dock Shipbuilders participated in VIDE24. The exhibition became the medium of further strengthening the defence partnership between India and Vietnam.

भारतीय सेना के उप प्रमुख लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल एन. एस. राजा सुब्रमणि ने वियतनाम का दौरा किया और VIDE24 में भाग लिया। उन्होंने हनोई में वियतनाम पीपल्स आर्मी (VPA) की 80वीं वर्षगांठ समारोह में भी हिस्सा लिया था। इस अवसर पर सेना ने कहा, “यह दौरा दोनों देशों की सेनाओं के बीच सहयोग को मजबूत करता है, जो सामरिक साझेदारी और विश्वास पर आधारित है।”
भारत ने वियतनाम को दीं 12 हाई-स्पीड गार्ड बोट्स
भारत ने 2022 में वियतनाम को $100 मिलियन की रक्षा क्रेडिट लाइन के तहत 12 हाई-स्पीड गार्ड बोट्स सौंपी थीं। 2023 में भारत ने वियतनाम को स्वदेश निर्मित मिसाइल कार्वेट INS किरपान उपहार स्वरूप दिय था। दोनों देशों के बीच एक लॉजिस्टिक सपोर्ट समझौता भी है, जिससे सैन्य ठिकानों का उपयोग मरम्मत के लिए किया जा सकता है।
इसके अलावा, भारत ने वियतनामी सैन्य कर्मियों को प्रशिक्षण दिया है। दिसंबर 2023 में वियतनाम में आयोजित संयुक्त सैन्य अभ्यास VINBAX-2023 में भारतीय सेना की 50 सदस्यीय टुकड़ी ने भाग लिया। वहीं, फरवरी 2024 में वियतनाम की नौसेना ने भारत में अंतरराष्ट्रीय समुद्री अभ्यास MILAN में हिस्सा लिया।
हिंद-प्रशांत क्षेत्र में स्थिरता का उद्देश्य
भारत और वियतनाम का यह सहयोग हिंद-प्रशांत क्षेत्र में शांति और स्थिरता बनाए रखने के लिए महत्वपूर्ण है। वियतनाम के साथ इस तरह की डील न केवल भारत की सामरिक स्थिति को मजबूत करती है, बल्कि इसे आत्मनिर्भर भारत (Aatmanirbhar Bharat) पहल का एक अहम हिस्सा भी बनाती है।
यह डील दोनों देशों के बीच विश्वास और रणनीतिक साझेदारी का प्रतीक है और इस क्षेत्र में सुरक्षा और स्थिरता सुनिश्चित करने के लिए एक ठोस कदम है।
