Zorawar Light Tank: India’s Indigenous Zoravar Light Tank’s tests are running inaccessible and altitude areas of Ladakh. These tests are going to be extremely important to meet the future needs of the Indian Army and combat the military strategies of neighbor China. The firing test of the zore tank has been successful, and the whole process is expected to end this month.
Zorawar Light Tank: Testing in Neoma of Ladakh
According to the formulas, the testing of the sliver tank is taking place in the Neoma terrain of Ladakh, 30 km from China Sime. In these tests the tank has been tested on three key criteria—Firepower, Mobility and Security. After the test is completed, it will be assigned to the User Trial for the Indian Army next year.
Strategic Preparations against China
In view of the deployment of China’s lightweight tanks in Ladakh, the Indian Army also felt the need for similar capabilities. For this purpose, the Defence Acquisition Council approved the project.
Zoravar tank is part of that order of 59 tanks, being developed together with DRDO and its private sector partners. This light tank is specially designed for rapid movement and operation inaccessible mountain areas.
Indigenous Construction: Make in India Initiative
Under this project, DRDO and India’s leading private company Larsen and Toubro (L&T) worked closely under the ‘Make in India’ initiative. This tank with a weight of 25 tonnes is capable of rapid movement not only in altitude areas, but also includes many state-of-the-art technologies.
Some special features of the tank:
- Firepower: The ability of precise attack on enemy bases.
- Mobility: The strength to move faster even in difficult areas.
- Security: The use of an active safety system (Active Protection System) to protect the tank from an anti-tank guided missile and projectile.
Amphibian Capacity and Strategic Importance
A unique feature of the zore tank is its amphibian (walking on both water and ground) ability. This feature makes it useful to deploy in areas such as the Pengong Tasso Lake of Laddakh, where the Indian army has already encountered Chinese light tanks.
Due to the amphibian capacity, Zoravar is suitable not only for deployment in hilly areas but also in areas like river and lake. This gives the Indian Army a significant strategic edge in border areas.
The Future of Indian Army
This initiative of the Indian Army is not limited to strengthening the military power, but also a big step towards realizing the dream of ‘Samnihar Bharat’. Development of indigenous tanks reflects the power of Indian industries and scientists.
Light and dynamic tanks such as Zoraver between current challenges on Ladakh and Eastern borders can prove gamechanger for Indian Army. These tanks will be used not only for monitoring and protection, but also help to respond quickly and effective to the enemy when needed.
